Heartburn/GERD

Heartburn, a burning sensation or discomfort behind the breastbone or sternum, is the most common symptom of GERD. It may be accompanied by regurgitation of undigested stomach contents into the mouth or the lungs. In people with significant GERD, manifestations such as asthma, coughing, or intermittent wheezing and vocal cord inflammation with hoarseness can occur.

Acid reflux is most often the result of the body’s inability to properly digest food. If this reflux is allowed to continue, it will begin to cause more severe symptoms and can even lead to tissue damage in the esophagus.

Complications of allowing GERD to continue include esophageal erosion, esophageal ulcer, and esophageal stricture (narrowing); replacement of normal esophageal tissue with abnormal tissue; and pulmonary aspiration. If you allow the acid reflux to continue, you are at risk of developing more serious symptoms that can cause damage to your digestive tissues.

Factors that may increase the symptoms of GERD in some patients include smoking, caffeine, chocolate, fatty foods, overeating, the presence of a hiatal hernia, and certain medications including medications commonly prescribed for GERD. While avoidance of these factors may be helpful, this will not repair the cause of the GERD.

Using a combination of homeopathy and naturopathy, it may be possible to completely eliminate your GERD in as little as a month’s time. This combination therapy has been shown to be greater than 95% effective in our clinic.

Don’t live with the gnawing pain another day, call and schedule a complimentary consult, and be on the road to being pain-free.
