CHIROPRACTORS UNITE TO BUILD A HOME FOR A NEEDY FAMILY IN MEXICO

The doctors and staff of the Miles Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Clinic are pleased to announce a special program they will be initiating next month. From February 10th through the 16th the clinic will be raising funds to build a home for a needy family in the greater Tijuana, Mexico area. The three 3 room (plus a loft) home will be erected with the help of Baja Christian Ministries, an organization offering similar services as "Habitat For Humanity." BCM has partnered with another organization, "Casa de Dios," to build homes for impoverished Mexican families. In an ongoing effort, which began after the El Nino floods in Tijuana, "Casa de Dios" has build dozens of homes for destitute families. The new structures stand in a settlement named El Nino, in remembrance of the floods that washed out hundreds of homes. This land was provided by Mexico as a refuge for those victimized, and is located between Tijuana and Tecate.

The cost for building the small, but well built homes, is just $5,500 in materials only. Then its up to volunteers to construct the dwelling in just one weekend. Clinic director, Dr. Michael Miles, has been on 4 home building trips in the past 2 years. The latest trip so moved him that he has been inspired to mobilize his staff, patients, and vendors, to raise funds to build "their own home" for a Mexican family. No previous construction experience is required, (but is certainly helpful) from the participant volunteer laborers. A skilled volunteer overseer, Dave Bower (Vice-president of Sierra Chevrolet/Honda in Monrovia) will be on site to help teach "The Miles volunteers" to frame, hang drywall, mud, tape, wrap, and of course, paint and shingle the house.

To initiate the project and raise funds, the doctors will donate some of their chiropractic healing talents from February 10th-16th. All first time new patients participating in this program that week will receive a 50% discount on all exams, X-rays, physiotherapy, and other treatments received. The remaining 50% will be paid directly to "Casa de Dios." Then, on Saturday, February 16th, all established patients will receive their adjustments for a discounted fee of just $35.00, (a 20% saving). The entire days cash/personal check receipts will go to fund the house project. And, if the clinic falls short of the $5,500 goal, the remainder will be paid by Miles Chiropractic and Physical Therapy Clinic.
